The announcement was made by Dr. SPS Oberoi, Managing Trustee of SDBCT on Friday when the body of hapless Jagbir Singh arrived at Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport from where it was further transported to his native village by the Trust. Bodies of Bikramjit Singh and Palwinder Singh were also transported to their native villages by the Trust in the recent past.
“Their families had invested their entire savings, sold their lands, and took out loans to send their sons to Dubai in search of a brighter future but unfortunately Jagbir Singh, Bikramjit Singh, and Palwinder Singh, who ventured abroad with dreams of building a better life for themselves and supporting their loved ones back home, have tragically lost their lives under uncertain circumstances leaving their families devastated” said Oberoi.
He further said that the sudden deaths of these youth have left their families, including elderly parents, in a state of profound helplessness, with no clear path forward.
“Keeping in view their dire situation, Trust has stepped forward with a gesture of compassion. The Trust has announced a monthly pension of Rs 2,000 for the bereaved families. While this support may not be sufficient to fully address their needs, it represents a small but meaningful contribution aimed at providing some relief during this incredibly difficult time” said Oberoi in an emotional note.
Oberoi informed that Jagbir had reached Dubai about five years ago but had died on August 1.
