Pilibhit: The district police filed an FIR against two persons for the
murder of an 18-year-old man from Bareilly on Friday. The victim’s body was found floating beneath the Khamaria bridge of river Apsara on the Bareilly-Haridwar NH 74, within the limits of Jahanabad police station, on May 20.
The victim’s father, Than Singh, from Husainganj village under Nawabganj police station in Bareilly, said that he “repeatedly urged the SHOs of Jahanabad and Nawabganj police stations to lodge an FIR, but it was denied for unknown reasons”.
The police action occurred when he appeared before Pilibhit’s SP Avinash Pandey, Singh added.
He said that his son, Rupendra Singh, went out around 11 am on May 19 with Veerpal Singh, a resident of their native village. When he did not return by 10 pm, Singh approached Veerpal, who did not provide a satisfactory explanation about his son’s whereabouts. Jahanabad SHO Mukesh Shukla said, “Veerpal and his unidentified colleague have been booked under relevant IPC sections. The arrests are yet to be made in the case.”
