Pilibhit: A 25-year-old man, accused of killing a nurse in Shahjahanpur, was found hanging in Pilibhit on Saturday.
Shahjahanpur police raided his house in Pandaria village on Friday to nab him after he along with others were booked under IPC sections 376 D (gang rape), 302 (
murder), and 120 B (criminal conspiracy). His body was sent for an autopsy, police said.
The man had visited Pizza Hub in Shahjahanpur’s Charkhambha locality, along with a staff nurse on Thursday and rented a room there. After a few hours with the nurse in the room, he left on the pretext of bringing food. When he did not return after a considerable time, the Pizza Hub owner checked the room where he found the nurse’s body in the washroom of the room, where she had allegedly been strangled.
The woman’s family members, who worked at a private hospital, had alleged the man was a key accused in the murder and gang rape. However, Shahjahanpur SP Ashok Kumar Meena said the woman’s autopsy reports did not indicate rape.
