Father, son arrested for ‘attempt to kill’ veggie vendor

Pilibhit: Two men — Nayeem Khan and his son Babbar —were arrested after a clash between two groups at Ramnagar Taluk Mahrajpur under Puranpur limits in Pilibhit on Monday. The accused were charged with “rioting, stone pelting and trying to kill a vegetable vendor”.
The vendor, Akshay Kumar and his uncle, Jaiveer Kumar, were “assaulted with sharp-edged objects causing injuries”, police said, adding some locals who tried to pacify the “attackers” were also targeted.
Police said trouble started when Kumar, passing by Nayeem’s house with a vegetable cart, asked the latter to “park his bike on the side”. Nayeem who was washing the bike refused and he along with his son started “abusing” Kumar. Nayeem also called in his aides from the neighbourhood and they clashed with Kumar and his “supporters”.
