More than 270 Ganesh idols immersed in temporary ponds
Bhubaneswar: More than 270 Lord Ganesh idols were immersed at three temporary ponds created by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) near the Kuakhai River and two others near Tankapani Road on Sunday. While 124 idols were immersed at the pond near Kuakhai till 6 pm, 150 idols were immersed at the facility near Tankapani Road and Daya river.
The BMC facilitated eco-friendly immersion for both puja committees and communities.

Sources reported that the idols immersed on Sunday came mostly from individual households and various communities.
The BMC had previously urged citizens to submit idols at nearby Kalyan Mandaps, where the civic staff would transport them to the immersion ponds.
Additionally, the BMC requested mega puja pandals to avoid using plastic and chemical colors to protect the environment. Most puja committees and communities across the city have complied with these regulations.TNN
