Industrial Area police had received information about a knife fight. When the police arrived at the scene, they found that someone had attacked two persons in an auto-rickshaw with a knife, seriously injuring one, who was admitted to Govt Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32.
Rishabh, one of the injured, told the police that he worked at Elante Mall and was returning home in Hallo Majra with his friend Ritesh in an auto-rickshaw after finishing work.
He said they had a minor argument with a motorcyclist on the way, who started following and abusing them. When they got off the auto-rickshaw near Poultry Farm chowk, the motorcyclist attacked them with a knife and fled.
Ritesh died nine days later.
Ritesh was severely injured in the incident, and Rishabh also sustained multiple wounds. Ritesh was treated at GMCH-32 for several days, but succumbed to his injuries on Dec 22, 2022.

The police arrested Gurudutt a few days after the incident and recovered the knife used in the crime. Forensic tests revealed that the knife had blood from both Rishabh and deceased Ritesh.
Although the defence argued that witnesses could not clearly state where the knife was recovered from, the prosecution maintained that the blood on the knife matched with that of the victims and it was recovered from the accused.
After hearing both sides, the court found Gurudutt guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
