CHENNAI: A clash broke out between members of Aathi Thamizhar Katchi and Naam Thamizhar Katchi (NTK) in Porur on Monday. Police said the clash occurred when
ATK members congregated near NTK's office to condemn the objectionable remarks made by NTK chief coordinator Seeman.
On February 23, a case was registered against Seeman by Karungalpalayam police, Erode, on charges of insulting members of the scheduled caste community.
The move follows complaints that Seeman made objectionable remarks against the Arunthathiyar community during his election campaign at Thirunagar colony in Erode (East) on February 13.
His speech sparked protests from Aathi Thamizhar Katchi cadres.
On Monday, atleast 50 cadres of ATK took out a procession to the office of NTK in Lakshmi Nagar, Porur. When the police blocked them from moving forward, a few of them ran towards the NTK office and began to hurl stones at the office. NTK members have sought action against the protesters.
