CHENNAI: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has alleged that there was a rise in fever cases across the state and demanded the state government to conduct special medical camps to arrest the spike.
In a statement on Sunday, EPS alleged that though there was an increase in fever, dengue and chickungunya cases, public were complaining that government hospitals do not have adequate stock of the medicines to treat these ailments.

EPS said that more than 4,000 people were reportedly affected by dengue in the last seven months.
Now, there are reports of an increase in the number of people suffering from fever in various parts of the state, including outskirts of Chennai, like Thiruvallur and Kancheepuram, Usilampatti in Madurai, Palayamkottai in Tenkasi, and Bodi in Theni, he said. He alleged that these people were having difficulty in getting medicines in government hospitals, as stocks were not maintained.
Pointing out that Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation, was established by late chief minister J Jayalalithaa for ensuring that all hospitals had adequate stock of medicines well in advance of an outbreak, EPS wondered whether the corporation continued to function now. However, health authorities said that there was neither a spike in fever cases nor a shortage of medicines.
Health officials said that there were fever cases being reported in large numbers about three weeks back, but now the cases have come down drastically.
