Cuttack complex residents worried after robbery bid
Cuttack: Residents of an apartment complex at Trisulia in Cuttack have raised safety concerns after four armed men entered two flats by breaking down the front doors on Friday night in a robbery attempt. The residents have claimed that no arrests have been made yet and police are clueless about the identity of the thieves, who came wearing masks.
“I feel unsafe that even after three days of the incident, there was no action taken against the miscreants and police are clueless about their identity,” a resident named Dilip Kumar Sahoo said.

“We have registered a case at the Baranga police station and CCTV footage has been collected from the apartment. Investigation is underway and we will nab the culprits soon,” additional deputy commissioner of police Anil Mishra said.
On Saturday, the residents staged a protest, demanding the builder to make better safety arrangements in the apartment and hire trained security guards immediately.
“We had asked the committee members of the builder earlier to install better security measures repeatedly but they didn’t pay heed, following which we sat on a protest on Saturday,” one Santosh Panda said.
There are 220 flats in the apartment, located on the banks of Kathajodi river, with over 600 residing in them. As per the CCTV footage installed in the nearby areas, the four robbers entered the complex carrying swords by scaling its boundary wall around 1:40am on Friday. “I don’t feel safe inside my own home after this incident,” Jumi Das, another resident, said.
