ERODE: District police officials were on their toes for more than five hours on Saturday morning after they received a call warning of a bomb blast. An anonymous caller, claimed, bombs will explode at the bus stand and the railway junction.
Talking to media persons Erode town inspector R Deivarani said, someone contacted the police control room in Chennai on Saturday and informed officials that bombs would shortly explode at the Erode bus stand and railway junction.
"They alerted us following which we initiated the search operation," the inspector said. Sniffer dogs were also deployed for the operation.
Railway protection force were also rushed to the bus stand and railway junction. The teams, along with the bomb squad combed the areas for bombs.
"We searched those two spots for more than five hours and did not come across any such suspicious objects," the inspector said.
