ERODE: Chief minister
M K Stalin and his son
Udhayanidhi Stalin are liars and Nobel prize can be given to them for their lies, said leader of the opposition
Edappadi K Palaniswami during his last day of campaign in Erode east constituency on Saturday. He said the two captured the regime through lies.
Palaniswami concluded his campaign at Gandhi statue area in the constituency, where speeches of the two DMK leaders were played on a giant LED screen.
To a promise of getting exemption from NEET for Tamil Nadu, Palaniswami said Congress leader P Chidambaram's wife Nalini Chidambaram, an advocate, told in a press meet that the apex court had put a fullstop to NEET related cases. She also said Tamil Nadu won't get exemption from NEET, EPS said.
Palaniswami said Stalin and Udhayanidhi cheated students by making false promises and that 12 students died by suicide because of their lies.
Reacting to Stalin's remark that announcement on 1,000 monthly dole to women will be given during the budget session in the second week of March, EPS retorted saying Udhayanidhi on the other hand said the amount will be given to women within six months of time.
Stalin during the campaign said Palaniswami should wear spectacles and read the complete list of DMK's poll promises. Responding to this, EPS said he only asked questions on behalf of the people as their representative.
"Stalin did not disrespect me, he disrespected the people," he said.
The AIADMK leader listed schemes such as dedicated drinking water project for Erode corporation at the cost of 484 crore, bridge to connect Erode with Pallipalayam, four-lane roads to Tiruchengode, Perundurai, super-specialty hospital, exclusive commercial complex for Kani market at the cost of 26 crore.
"The Stalin government was only inaugurating the projects and schemes for which the foundation stone was laid during the AIADMK regime," he said.
Stalin was facing this election depending on cash for votes while he believed in his government's achievements, he added.
He also blamed Stalin for 'blocking' several AIADMK schemes.
