Army seizes 7 IEDs in Imphal East, averts major disaster
Guwahati: The Army, along with Manipur Police, on Thursday recovered seven IEDs in Imphal East district.
Defence ministry PRO and spokesperson for Manipur, Nagaland and southern Arunachal stated that a potential threat to life and property was averted with the recovery of the IEDs near Bongjang and Itham villages in the district.
“Acting on specific info, columns of the Army and Manipur Police acted swiftly and launched an extensive search operation.

Explosive detection dogs of the Army were also pressed into service. The operation resulted in the recovery of seven IEDs weighing approximately 28.5kg. The IEDs were defused by experts from Army Engineers. The recovery has prevented a major disaster and saved precious lives,’ the PRO said. tnn
