Will give 3k/month if we form govt, says Cong
Guwahati: Assam PCC president Bhupen Borah said if Congress govt comes to power, every female beneficiary, irrespective of caste, religion, or creed, will be given Rs 3,000 per month under the ‘Na-Lakhimi’ scheme.
This financial assistance will be assuredly provided on the 9th of every month, Borah announced on Thursday, when the state govt launched the ‘Orunodoi 3.0’ scheme.
1x1 polls

Borah told the media that if Congress comes to power in Assam in 2026, the ‘Orunodoi’ scheme will be cancelled.
He mentioned that they do not oppose ‘Orunodoi’. However, currently, 32 lakh people are applying for 12,600 jobs in the state. “While 12,600 will get jobs, what will happen to the rest? Has the CM thought about this?” Borah asked, adding, they will are considering everyone when their govt comes to power in 2026.
He accused CM of selectively providing ‘Orunodoi’ benefits to BJP members. Borah said people no longer attend BJP meetings, noting that BJP ministers and legislators struggle to attract attendees without promising govt scheme forms.
“Once Congress comes to power in 2026, we will discontinue Orunodoi and introduce Na-Lakhimi. Chief minister is giving benefits of Orunodoi, if someone takes BJP membership,” Borah alleged.

Borah claimed that though state govt is blowing its trumpet with Orunodoi, he said this scheme is not enough to run the state.
He was also critical about the acceptance of “One Nation One Election” policy. “Next Assam election is to be held in 2026. If one nation, one election is implemented from 2029, what will be the modality for states like Assam where the tenure of the next govt will be till 2031,” Borah questioned, calling it a very complex affair.
