Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy announced India’s first-ever transgender-specific govt recruitment-cum-social welfare programme on Friday.
Revanth, who reviewed the traffic situation in the city and directed the officials to prepare plans to minimise traffic jams, said: “Explore the posibility of training the third gender people to regulate vehicular traffic on the lines of home guards.”
Hyderabad has least traffic jams and problems amongst India’s big five cities and this move will help further make it the best in traffic management, officials said.
Post identification, recruitment and training, traffic support from troops raised exclusively from transgenders will support Hyderabad traffic police, sources said. tnn
