Hyderabad: Task force police intercepted a van transporting 170kg of ganja from
Odisha to Maharashtra in Pedda Amberpet area in the city.
Seizure, worth ₹60 lakh, included the 170kg ganja, the van with specially designed shelves to conceal the drugs, and a pilot car. Eight individuals were arrested in connection with the smuggling operation.
Excise enforcement joint commissioner Qureshi revealed that the main suspect, Ismail Turiki from Odisha, had previously been imprisoned for ganja smuggling and had formed a gang to continue illegal trade.
