INDORE: A 16-year-old schoolboy was killed and five students injured when an autorickshaw ferrying them home overturned in Indore's Tilak Nagar on Tuesday afternoon.
Police identified the victim as class XII student Harshit Shitole, a resident of Suraj Nagar.
He was sitting in a corner of the auto and found himself crushed when the auto toppled on its side.

He was taken to hospital with severe head and chest injuries but died during treatment.
Harshit's father. Sanjay Shitole, is a civil contractor and his mother is a schoolteacher.
Khajrana ACP Kundan Mandloi said the auto driver Champalal alias Bachhu was driving the students back from school in Lalaram Nagar when the vehicle hit a big stone and overturned on its left side. Locals rescued the children.
Auto driver held, sent for medical examination
One group carried Harshit to hospital, while others took the survivors, aged 7-10 years, to a sweets shop and informed their parents.

“Tilak Nagar police station in charge rushed to the hospital. The driver was arrested and sent for medical examination. A case under BNS sections 105 and 281 for culpable homicide and rash driving has been registered against him,” said ACP Mandloi.
Traumatized by the accident, the other children kept crying. When asked by locals, the driver allegedly claimed that one of the tyres got detached after hitting a stone.
