Indore: Industries under the aegis of Association of Industries in Madhya Pradesh (AIMP), in a meeting with Indore mayor on Tuesday, have urged for common facility centres, testing laboratories, and roads in industrial areas of Indore to give a boost to the industrial ecosystem in the state for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Industries of Sanwer Road, which houses more than 1500 MSMEs, also floated the proposal to install street lights in Sector C by collectively investing Rs 1 crore.
According to the association, the lack of street lights in one of the oldest industrial areas has raised safety concerns for the workforce, especially women workers, and has led to a rise in encroachment in the industrial area.
Giving consent to the proposal for street lights in Sector C of Sanwer Road, mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav said, “We will consider all the issues in industrial areas comprehensively and resolve them one by one. It is not that the corporation is ignoring any issue, but we are making efforts in a phased manner to resolve challenges faced by industries. The municipal corporation will cover the electricity bill for lights installed in Sector C and any other sectors of the Sanwer Road industrial area”.
Bhargav ordered a survey and plan to address the encroachment issue and promised to arrange drinking water facilities in all industrial areas soon.
The Mayor said that the municipal corporation will install stormwater lines and drainage along with roads in industrial areas.
AIMP president Yogesh Mehta said, “There are many fundamental problems in industrial areas that need solutions. Industries require basic facilities such as roads and encroachment control, as well as common facility centres and testing labs to promote growth”.
Industries of Palda requested to declare it as a notified industrial area to which the Mayor asked them to contribute 40% of their share for the basic development of Palda.
