Jeweller gets extortion call in name of gangster Lawrence
Jodhpur: Extortion calls in the name of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi continue to frighten businessmen in Jodhpur. One such call to a jeweller Om Prakash Soni on Tuesday demanding Rs 5 lakh by a henchman of Bishnoi, as the caller claimed to be, threatened him to be next target after Jaipur.
The jeweller had received the WhatsApp calls from an unknown number with a foreign country code first, which he did not receive.

When he did not pick up the call despite the callers repeated attempts, the caller then sent him messages threatening him of the incident like Jaipur while demanded Rs 5 lakh.
The jeweller immediately rushed to the police and filed a case by the caller named as Nikky Barad. Police have initiated investigation into the matter by ascertaining the source of phone numbers calls and message had been made.
Soni having his business in Godhon ka Chowk area of Jodhpur stated in his complaint that he received regular WhatsApp calls from a number with foreign code on Tuesday afternoon.
“Seeing an unidentifiable call from a foreign code, I did not receive the call suspecting it to be fishy. The caller called up repeatedly and when I did not respond, he sent me some messages identifying himself as Nikky Barad, a henchman of the gangster Lawrence Bishnoi,” Soni stated.
“He demanded Rs 5 lakh and threatened to be the next target after Jaipur, if I failed to hand over the money demanded by him,” Soni added.
Not only this, but the jeweller was also threatened to be killed, if he did not pick up his call and talk to him.
The caller also warned him against approaching the police and instructed him to await further directions for handing over the money.
