Gang-rape case against ex-MLA

Jodhpur/Jaisalmer: A woman on Wednesday filed a case against nine persons, including former Barmer MLA Mevaram Jain of Congress and RPS officer Anand Singh Rajpurohit, of raping her and molesting her teenage daughter two years back. The case has been registered at the Rajeev Gandhi Nagar Police Station in Jodhpur.
The woman has alleged in the FIR that the accused raped not only her but also one of her friends and exerted pressure on her to bring other women to them.
On the woman’s complaint, the Jodhpur police have lodged case against former MLA Jain, RPS Anand Singh Rajpurohit, SHO Gangaram Khawa, SI Dawood Khan, Ramswaroop Acharya, vice-chairman Surtan Singh, pradhan Girdhar Singh Sodha, Praveen Sethia and Gopal Singh Rajpurohit.
SHO Shakil Ahmad said that ex-MLA Jain and eight others have been booked for gang rape, molestation, intimidation, threats and under the POCSO Act. “She has alleged that Jain has been raping her since 2021, while one Ramswaroop, who introduced her to Jain, has been raping her for the past five years,” said the SHO.

In her FIR, the woman alleged that she came in contact with one Ramswaroop from Barmer about five years ago. He repeatedly raped her, recorded the acts and continued sexually exploiting her. He also introduced her to then Barmer MLA Mewaram Jain in 2021 and both of them raped her then and have been continuously raping her since. They allegedly molested her 15-year-old daughter and raped one of her friends.
