Kochi: The
special investigation team set up to probe Nilambur MLA PV Anvar's claims about a possible nexus between organized crime and senior police officers recorded his statement on Saturday. Speaking to the media, Anvar explained that his statement was part of a formal process to discuss the complaint he had submitted to the CM. "I will present all the evidence I have," he said.
Anvar said he continues to receive additional evidence and that his new WhatsApp number, launched on Friday, has got 150 to 200 tips.
He questioned why an FIR had not been filed regarding a complaint by a woman from Ponnani against three senior police officers and called for a high-level inquiry into the allegations raised by her. While he expressed confidence in the police, he criticized a minority of officers he described as corrupt.
Targets Satheesan, alleges RSS links
Anvar also said ADGP MR Ajith Kumar met RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale in Thrissur on behalf of the opposition leader. He claimed that Satheesan held an urgent press conference to allege that Kumar was acting as a messenger for CM Pinarayi Vijayan and was sent to sabotage the Pooram festival.
Refuting Satheesan's allegations, Anvar stated he had already received similar information before Satheesan's press conference and suggested that Kumar's cyber team came to know about it. According to Anvar, the press meeting was strategically timed to counter his revelations.
Anvar asserted that the real motive behind the meeting was related to the Punarjani issue, suggesting that if an inquiry into Punarjani deals were conducted, it would implicate Satheesan.
He further argued that the Kerala Police's scope for investigating the Punarjani case was limited due to the involvement of foreign funds. Anvar challenged Satheesan to publicly state his willingness to undergo an ED probe regarding the Punarjani issue.
