KOCHI: Revenue Minister K Rajan has instructed district collectors to take action to halt the illegal reclamation of paddy fields and restore them to their original state. The minister was speaking at the district collectors' meeting held in Ernakulam for the past two days.
Strict action should be taken against land reclassification except for approved cases, including plantation land.
If such reclassification is noticed, revenue officials have been instructed to report it to the taluk land boards and initiate steps to reopen surplus land cases.
The village-level people's committees' activities will be intensified to make the revenue department more people-friendly. Additional responsibilities will be assigned to more deputy tahsildars for this purpose.
As part of the government's 100-day program, title deed fairs will be organized in all districts.
Special adalats will be held from October 25 to November 10 to settle pending applications for land reclassification.
Four regional meetings will be conducted across the state with the participation of tahsildars to effectively address and promptly resolve issues related to the revenue department, the minister announced.
