DIMAPUR: Nagaland adviser to school education department, Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, on Friday said the state govt would launch students' health card on Teachers' Day to take care of their health.
Addressing the awardees at the Nagaland Government School Students Meritorious Award programme at Morung conference hall, directorate of school education, in Kohima, Yhome said the department is putting its best efforts to upgrade the education system in the state for which the govt schools are being given free quality education.
He hoped that the education system in the state would greatly improve when a rush time comes for admission in govt primary, middle, high and higher secondary schools. He urged the teachers to build a cordial relationship with students. Altogether 12 students from govt schools were awarded at the programme.
Congratulating the awardees, Yhome said there are 1,939 govt schools in Nagaland, covering every nook and corner of the state, equipped with well qualified teachers for improvement of the education system.
"People think those students who go to govt schools are from financially from weaker sections. The people should change their mindset," he said.
Principal director, directorate of school education, Thavaseelan K, said the award ceremony program was started in 2023 with the aim to motivate the students in govt schools.
Yhome gave away certificates and cash awards while commissioner and secretary, school education, Kevileno, gave away the certificates to 24 govt high schools and three govt higher secondary schools for securing 100% pass percentage in the HSSLC and HSSLC examination 2024.
