Lucknow: A day after a portion of road near
Lucknow University collapsed due to heavy rain creating a sinkhole, authorities on Friday said that road repair will take at least 10 days.
The incident caused significant traffic disruptions in the area.
The incident occurred opposite LESA substation, just 10 meters from the residence of MP Dinesh Sharma on Lucknow University Road.
The road is a major intersection connecting Aliganj, Niralanagar, and other nearby areas to Hazratganj and other parts of the city.
Officials of departments responsible for repair work said that it would take 10 days to repair the road and make it commutable again.
Anjali Gupta of Vikasnagar, who works in Hazratganj, said, "Previously, I reached office in 20 minutes but due to the ongoing road repair work on University Road, there is a severe traffic jam on the stretch due to which it takes 40-50 minutes to reach office."
"We have deployed teams to locate the leakage in the drain that caused the road cave-in. Once the leak is identified, we will repair it. We are optimistic that the road will be usable within a week," said chief engineer at LMC Mahesh Chandra Verma.
Meanwhile, PWD issued an advisory to metro line and LESA substation, instructing the officials to deploy teams to monitor repair works and ensure protection of nearby constructions during repair work.
