SAD slams govt, uses horse cart to protest against fuel price hike
Ludhiana: The Shiromani Akali Dal used a horse cart to protest against the fuel price hike and discontinuation of power subsidy to households with up to 7KW power connections. During the demonstration near Aarti Chowk, party leaders raised slogans against the ruling Aam Aadmi Party government. They also burnt the effigy of CM Bhagwant Mann.
Senior SAD leaders Maheshinder Singh Grewal, Ranjit Singh Dhillon, Bhupinder Singh Bhinda and Bobby Garcha said they used a horse cart for the protest to show that such a cart is seen as the last resort of people burdened by high fuel prices.

Warning that the fuel price hike would lead to hike in the prices of essential commodities, they said that every section of society was going through a period of depression. Expressing the hope that the act of effigy burning would serve as a reality check for the state government, the SAD leaders submitted a memorandum to the governor. In the memorandum, they said that while coming to power in 2022, the AAP government promised not to impose new taxes or take new loans. They said the government was incurring debt and imposing taxes on people.
