PU dept in Dakshina Kannada plans for special classes as students cleared 3rd SSLC exams apply for admission
Mangaluru: The PU department in Dakshina Kannada plans to hold special classes for those candidates, who have just cleared the third SSLC improvement examination and will join the first PU courses in a few days.
According to PU colleges in Dakshina Kannada, especially govt colleges, have received admission requests from many candidates who cleared their SSLC examination, a few days ago.

The PU colleges have already started and have completed three months' portion.
"To cover the completed portions, we are mulling over conducting special classes for new joiners, and planning is in progress. The colleges have already completed 30% of their syllabus by now. Therefore, it is the need of the hour to revise lessons for them to follow the syllabus," said CD Jayanna, DDPU of Dakshina Kannada.
Asked whether any plans have been made for conducting special classes, Jayanna said there is no guidance from the head office in Bengaluru. "If there is no communication made soon from Bengaluru, Dakshina Kannada will call for a principals' meeting and decide on conducting special classes," he said.
Jayanand N Suvarna, principal of Govt PU College, Shaktinagar, and president of the Dakshina Kannada Pre-University Colleges Principals' Association, suggested that it is better to conduct separate special classes for them as they missed out on a huge syllabus, which has been covered in the last three months. Apart from that, they also need to appear for the internal assessment exam, where marks are taken into account.
Conduct exam early
Meanwhile, PU college managements expressed that the govt must conduct all improvement examinations at the earliest so that there is no wide gap like this year, which is around three months. Colleges will find it difficult to conduct special classes, especially those colleges with limited teaching resources.
