Meerut: A Faridabad-based businessman was duped of Rs 10 lakh in Meerut in April by Mohd Irfan, who posing as an occultist and going by the name ‘Hari Pandit’, claimed he would multiply his money by 100 times. The victim, Lakhmi Chand, said, “I went to Kanker Khera police station, but they told me I had to file a complaint at the SSP office. A mutual connection introduced me to Mohd Irfan, who initially claimed he could multiply my money by 100 times through black magic.
He took part of the amount online and the rest in cash.”
Irfan lured Lakhmi by showing him a box full of cash. “I was in a financial crisis and desperately needed the money. I sold my properties to arrange the cash. However, after receiving the money, the occultist fled,” Lakhmi said.
Meanwhile, SSP Meerut was unavailable for comment. Krishna Chaudhary
