THANE: A 35-year-old security supervisor was found dead on the terrace of a commercial building in Thane on Sunday. The victim's head was discovered nearby, and the body showed multiple injuries on the shoulder.
The Kapurbawdi police, who arrived at the scene on Sunday morning, identified the victim as Somnath Sadgir.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-V), Amarsingh Jadhav, provided details of the incident.

According to initial reports, Sadgir and another security guard-cum-liftsman had dinner together around 10:00 pm on the night of the incident. Police believe a dispute arose during the meal, which may have led to the brutal killing.
"CCTV footage shows both individuals entering a lift to the terrace, with a food parcel visible," DCP Jadhav stated. "After the murder, the suspect changed clothes and descended with a bag."
Police suspect the assailant killed Sadgir before decapitating him and fleeing the scene. They have identified a suspect and are currently conducting a manhunt.
The Kapurbawdi police have registered an FIR under Section 103(1) of the IPC and are investigating the incident. The motive behind the killing remains unclear, though police suspect there may have been some enmity between the two.
The grisly discovery was made when someone in an adjoining building spotted the victim lying in a pool of blood on the terrace and alerted the police.
Multiple teams from the crime branch, along with officers from the local police station, have launched a manhunt to apprehend the accused, identified as Prasad Kadam.
As the investigation unfolds, local residents remain shocked by the brutality of the crime.
