Nashik: NCP minister Chhagan Bhujbal, who performed Jalpujan of water from Manjarpada water diversion scheme that reached Yeola through Daraswadi – Dongargaon canal on Saturday, said that the scheme will benefit Marathwada and a detailed project report for the same has also been prepared.
Bhujbal, while addressing the gathering at Yeola, said, “We will not stop at bringing water from Manjarpada to Yeola.
Our plan is to tap over 5 TMC of water in Nar river and bring it to Godavari river by lifting and transporting it to Daraswadi and then to Yeola (Nashik district) and Vaijapur in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district and further.”
He said that the DPR of the Nar-Godvari linking scheme has also been prepared.
“After the approval of the state level technical advisory committee of Maharashtra Engineering Research Institute, the DPR will be sent to the govt for approval. We will also try to increase the capacity of Darsawadi dam. A discussion has been held with the secretary of the water resources department and deputy speaker Narahari Zirwal about getting more sources for the water in Punegaon dam,” the minister said.
Bhujbal said that he was determined to bring water to Yeola, which falls in the rain shadow region, and after overcoming difficulties, the project has been successful with the water now reaching Dongargaon. Every household in Yeola will soon be provided with drinking water through the taps.
Bhujbal further added that many more developmental works being carried out in Yeola.
“Now, Rs 560 crore has been sanctioned for a four-lane road from Pimplas to Yeola for which the work will start soon, besides works pegged at Rs 188 crore for a water supply scheme for 41 villages, including Rajapur, a Rs 73-crore for a water supply scheme for 16 villages, including Dhulgaon, and Rs 88-crore project for Yeola city are either about to begin or are under progress,” he said.
Sub-divisional officer Babasaheb Gadve, executive engineer Manoj Dhokchawle, deputy engineer Ritesh Jadhav, former MP Sameer Bhujbal, former MLA Pankaj Bhujbal, advocates Ravindra Pagar, Ambadas Bankar, Agricultural Produce Market Committee chairman Savita Pawar, and others were present.
