EOU raids ex-mining inspector’s premises
Patna: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar police raided multiple locations of former mining inspector of Bhojpur, Ranjit Kumar, who has been accused of conniving with the sand mafia and possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to a press release issued by the EOU, searches were conducted simultaneously at five different locations, including Ranjit’s ancestral house at Khajekalan area in Patna City, three places in Bhojpur and one in Gaya on September 5 and 6, by five teams headed by inspector rank officer.

Raids were conducted after search warrants were issued by the court.
During the raid, the team seized documents related to investments in banks, property and jewellery.
Disproportionate asset (DA) case has been registered against the former mining inspector under various sections of prevention of corruption Act, 1988 and IPC.
Manavjit Singh Dhillon, deputy inspector general of police (DIG), EOU, said Ranjit has been accused of amassing wealth 36% more than his known sources of income. “During the raid, documents of booking of two flats in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, were recovered from his rented accommodation in Ara. Papers related to insurance policy, purchase of land in Madhubani and Dhanbad, two bond paper of LIC, documents of two vehicles (two-wheeler and four-wheeler), jewellery, bank account, cheque books and ATM of various banks were seized,” he said.
He added: “We are verifying all the documents seized during the raids.”
