Puducherry man gets 10 years rigorous imprisonment for murdering wife
PUDUCHERRY: Principal district and sessions judge T Chandrasekaren on Wednesday sentenced a 58-year-old milk vendor in Puducherry to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for murdering his wife three years ago.
The judge slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 on the man, identified as Babu alias Paranthaman of Muthirapalyam in Puducherry. If Paranthaman fails to pay the fine, he has to undergo simple imprisonment for three months.
According to prosecution, Paranthaman suspected the fidelity of his wife, P Rathikala, 48, who worked at a cosmetic factory in the locality.

He used to quarrel frequently with her over petty issues. After one such quarrel, Paranthaman hit his wife on her head with a wet grinder stone on May 26, 2021. The woman died on the spot.
Mettupalayam police registered a case against Paranthaman and arrested him following a complaint by his son P Aravindhan, 23, a plumber.
