Raipur: A total of 115 shooters from Chhattisgarh have qualified for the prestigious All India G.V. Mavlankar and Zonal Shooting Championships, based on the points they secured in a state-level competition organised by the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Rifle Association at Mana in Raipur. The competition saw participation from 385 shooters.
Faiza Memon won the gold medal in the best player category.
In the specific events, Saumya Banerjee secured the gold medal in the 50-metre Rifle Prone event, Hermann Sandow won gold in the 25-metre centre fire pistol event, Kamal Preet Singh earned gold in the 25-metre pistol; with Vaibhav Aggarwal winning gold in the 25-metre pistol, Karthik Singhdeo winning gold in the 50-metre rifle, and Bhaktishakti Chandra taking gold in the 10-metre Air Pistol. Anupriya and Avni secured bronze medals.
Sports minister Tankram Verma was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony. He encouraged the state's shooters.
