Raipur: Governor Ramen Deka and Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai awarded 92 gold medals in 64 subjects, 48 PhD degrees, and conferred degrees to 35,291 students during the fifth convocation of the state-run Atal Bihari Vajpayee Vishwavidyalaya (ABVV) in Bilaspur on Saturday.
Supreme Court Judge, Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra, who was the chief guest of the convocation ceremony, was honoured with an honorary PhD for his invaluable contribution to the Indian judicial system.
Addressing the students, the governor said, “Universities are more than just institutions; they are the guardians of our knowledge and culture. They are places where history is preserved and literature is analysed.”The governor also stated that the National Education Policy 2020 represents a vision of foresight by the govt of India. Its objective is to equip the youth with the skills and knowledge needed to progress in a rapidly changing world. For Chhattisgarh, this policy brings a wave of progressive reforms that are set to deeply impact our educational institutions, he said.
The CM said that the country is working towards the resolution of a Developed India by 2047, and we are also working towards the goal of a Developed Chhattisgarh Vision 2047 in the state. “ I have also learned that the university has received a grant of Rs 20 crore under PM Usha, which is commendable and will enhance the university's infrastructure. We must take inspiration from renowned Indian universities like Takshashila and Nalanda and promote Indian knowledge traditions in our curricula.”
Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra said that the university has rapidly developed and has been recognised as an academic and administrative development centre by the Association of Indian Universities, reflecting the quality of training provided by the university. The event was also addressed by Union minister of state for urban development Tokhan Sahu and deputy chief minister Arun Sao.
The governor, CM, and other guests released the university's quarterly magazine ‘Kanhar’ and monthly magazine ‘Atal Drishti’. Vice-chancellor professor Arun Vajpayee welcomed all the guests.
