Chhattisgarh Armed Force jawan shoots 2 colleagues dead; 2 injured

Two jawans of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force were killed and two others injured after a fellow jawan opened fire at them in their camp in Balrampur district. The incident occurred around 11am at the 'B' company camp of CAF's 11th battalion. Shooter Ajay Sidar has been subdued and is now in custody.

NEW DELHI: Two jawans of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) were killed and two others injured after a fellow jawan opened fire at them in their camp in Balrampur district on Wednesday, a senior officer said.
The incident occurred around 11am at the 'B' company camp of CAF's 11th battalion in the Bhutahi Mod area, under the Samri Path police station, around 400km from Raipur, inspector general of police (Surguja range) Ankit Garg said.

Preliminary details suggest that constable Ajay Sidar fired at his colleagues using his service weapon, an Insas rifle.
Constable Rupesh Patel died instantly, Sandip Pandey, succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.
Two other injured personnel, Ambuj Shukla and Rahul Baghel, were taken to a community health center in Kusmi. Shukla is being transferred to Ambikapur in Surguja district for further treatment.
Sidar was quickly subdued and captured by other personnel who responded to the gunfire. He is now in custody, though the motive for the shooting remains unclear.
The CAF unit is stationed near the Jharkhand border for anti-Maoist operations.
