Raipur: A 19-year-old tribal girl was gang-raped in Kondagaon district of Bastar region when she was returning home on Aug 9. The five accused include a male friend of the survivor.
After the incident the survivor was in a shock and did not speak out due to fear of defamation. She eventually confided to her parents about the incident, and they took her to the Keshkal police station on Aug 29 and lodged a complaint.
In her statement the survivor said that she went to get a sewing machine when she was forcibly assaulted by five youths.
Based on the victim's report, Keshkal police promptly registered a case against the accused under sections 70 and 351 (3) of the BNS and started an investigation. Police have arrested all the five accused.
