However, in 1999, the Congress reclaimed the seat and won again in 2004. The BJP has since dominated the constituency, winning in the 2009, 2014, and 2019 elections.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, BJP candidate Lalubhai Babubhai Patel retained his seat with 37,597 votes. Congress candidate Ketan Dahyabhai Patel came second with 27,655 votes, while independent candidate Umesh B. Patel secured 19,938 votes.
In the 2014 election, Lalubhai Babubhai Patel of the BJP defeated Ketan Dahyabhai Patel of the Congress by a significant margin. Lalubhai received 46,960 votes compared to Ketan’s 37,738 votes, showcasing the BJP’s strong presence in this constituency.
