Rajkot: If you are planning a vacation in the picturesque coastal town of Diu, take adequate care to avoid heat stroke.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of severe heatwave sweeping Diu as well as the coastal districts of Saurashtra including Porbandar, Bhavnagar and Kutch, for the next five days beginning May 1.
IMD has also predicted the temperatures to rise by 2-3 degrees over the next few days.
In its bulletin, the weather department stated that the heat was tolerable for the general public but the rising mercury is a moderate health concern for infants, elderly people, and those with chronic diseases.
On Tuesday, Diu recorded a maximum temperature of 39.1 degrees Celsius, which was 5.3 degrees above normal.
