Jamshedpur: BJP state president Babulal Marandi said that the party’s central leadership will determine whether to form an alliance with JD(U) for the upcoming state assembly elections.
Marandi mentioned that Ajsu party, led by Sudesh Mahato, is currently with BJP at both the state and central levels. The decision regarding which other parties will join BJP before the state elections will be known when the time comes.
According to the senior BJP leader, who was in the city on Friday to attend the Kolhan division meeting of party cadres, “the growing unpopularity of chief minister Hemant Soren and desertions within JMM will prove costly for the ruling party” in the elections.
Marandi said, “The man who built the party with his blood and sweat was forced to leave, does CM have a genuine answer to it," referring to the exit of Champai Soren, the former CM of the state, from JMM.
The BJP leader further claimed that Hemant Soren and his wife Kalpana have now taken total control of the party, with Shibu Soren missing from the banners of JMM. Earlier, while addressing party workers at Tulsi Bhavan in Bistupur, Marandi instructed workers to go to their respective polling booths on September 8 and 9 to examine the voter list. He urged them to approach officials concerned and inform party leaders if they find any genuine voters' names deleted or false names added to the list.
Reacting to the allegations, JMM MLA Samir Mohanty said that Shibu Soren is the founding leader of the party and will continue to remain the torch bearer. “Marandi does not qualify to speak on Guruji,” he said.
“For Marandi, BJP was the most corrupt political party till four years ago. Suddenly it has become an ideal party for him. He has joined BJP hoping to become CM but that would never be realised,” Mohanty added.
