CBI announces 5L reward in 13-yr-old’s murder case
Ranchi: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for information on people involved in the eight-year-old murder case of Vinay Kumar Mahto (13) in Ranchi’s Tupudana. The CBI has published a WhatsApp number (9958756905), a landline number (0651-2360299) and an e-mail address ([email protected]) seeking information. The CBI has stated that people can provide any type of fact about the case, adding the identity of the informer would be kept a secret.

On February 4, 2016, Mahto, a student of Sapphire International School under Tupudana police outpost, was found dead inside the institute. The CBI had taken over the case on July 20, 2022 following an order of the Jharkhand HC. The court’s order came on a plea of Vinay’s father Manbahal Mahto. The case was registered under Section 302 and 34 of IPC. tnn
