Daltonganj: A 68-year-old man identified as
Raja Yadav was killed by unknown assailants when he was asleep at his home in Ghungree village on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
According to Nirmal Oraon, the officer in-charge of Manatu police station, the elderly man was sleeping on the front verandah of his house when he was attacked with a sharp weapon.
The police are still investigating the motive behind the crime, and the family has requested some time before filing an official FIR. From the crime scene, the authorities have recovered a small battery torch and a piece of wood stained with blood. The post-mortem examination of the deceased will be carried out at MMCH Daltonganj.
