SHILLONG: Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma informed the state assembly on Thursday that he had taken up the issue of alleged harassment of a Garo Hills-based Christian missionary nun in Assam with his counterpart, Himanta Biswa Sarma, who has assured action on the matter.
The opposition had raised the issue during the ongoing budget session and demanded action against the perpetrators.
Moving a zero hour notice, TMC legislator Charles Pyngope narrated the incident saying that Sister Rosemary, serving in South Garo Hills, faced harassment from a group of passengers and also the bus conductor while travelling to Goalpara in Assam recently.
Opposition leader Ronnie V Lyngdoh of the Congress also submitted a memorandum to the CM in this regard through the Speaker.
Conrad said the govt was aware of the incident and he had already taken up the matter with the Assam CM.
