Vadodara: Citizens in Vadodara have now shifted to online payment of taxes. This was revealed when the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) released details of the modes of payments used by the citizens.
The last day for paying advance property tax is Aug 5. The VMC offers a rebate of 10% to residential property owners and 5% for non-residential properties.
For payments made online, there is a discount of 1% apart from the rebate for paying taxes in advance.
VMC it has collected Rs 174.95 crore towards advance tax so far. Out of this, Rs 104.61 crore was paid online, and the remaining Rs 70.34 crore was paid at VMC offices. This implies that nearly 60% of the tax was collected through online payments.
VMC sources said that the offer of saving another 1% by making payments online had encouraged many to prefer paying on its website or mobile application.tnn
