Vadodara: A team of
CBI officials visited Godhra in connection with the probe into the NEET examination case. The team visited the district collectorate as well as other places in the town to conduct investigations.
The probe into the attempts to conduct malpractice in the NEET entrance test at two units of the Jai Jalaram School was handed over to the CBI along with other cases of irregularities in different states.
The attempt to ‘help’ students by filling their answer sheets in return for money was exposed after the Panchmahal district collector Ashish Kumar received a tip-off on May 5. The collector ordered officials to rush to the school’s unit in Godhra. Lists of students who were to be helped were found on paper as well as on the mobile phone of a teacher, and cash amounting to Rs seven lakh was also seized from a car being used by the teacher.
Sources said that the CBI was recording the statements of all officials involved in the process. CBI officials also visited the India Post office and the Bank of Baroda in Godhra. Sources said that the school or the accused connected with the case had accounts at these places.
