Yogi Adityanath visits Kashi Vishwanath temple for record 125th time as chief minister

VARANASI: Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has set a remarkable record by visiting the revered Kashi Vishwanath temple 125 times since assuming office in 2017, making him the first CM to achieve this feat. On average, Yogi visited the temple every month over past seven years, displaying his devotion to Lord Vishwanath.
In addition to his frequent visits to the temple, Yogi, who holds the esteemed position of Goraksh Peethadhishwar, has also offered prayers at the Kaal Bhairav temple approximately 100 times.According to a govt press release, Yogi had already completed 100 visits by Mar 2023.
The frequency of Yogi's visits to the Kashi Vishwanath temple intensified following launch of the ambitious Kashi Vishwanath Dham (corridor) project in 2018.
He personally oversaw the progress of the project from its groundbreaking ceremony to its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Throughout the redevelopment process, Yogi ensured every facility was provided for the convenience of the devotees, and the results of his efforts are evident in the steadily increasing number of visitors who now enjoy smooth darshan at the KV Dham.
Senior priest Shrikant Mishra, who frequently conducts worship ritual for the Chief Minister, attests to Yogi's profound devotion and heartfelt connection with Lord Vishwanath, emphasising that Yogi always prayed to the deity with a sense of national, state, and public welfare in mind, exemplifying his role as the state's representative.
Records indicate that between May 26, 2017, and Dec 11, 2022, Yogi visited the Kashi Vishwanath temple 93 times. In 2023 and 2024, he made 20 and 12 visits, respectively. Remarkably, in the current year, he has already visited the temple six times in May and twice in Jun.
