Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh Junior Doctors’ Association continued its state-wide
strike on Wednesday. They demanded justice for a postgraduate trainee who was sexually assaulted and murdered in Kolkata on August 9.
APJUDA president Dr Dheekshith Pendela said that the incident in Kolkata is not an isolated case but reflects a growing trend of violence against doctors.
“This threat endangers the lives of doctors who dedicate themselves to saving others. The lack of adequate protection for medical professionals has reached a critical point. We will continue our protest even on Thursday, on Independence Day, after participating in the flag hoisting,” said Dr Dheekshith.
Junior doctors conducted protest rallies in various parts of the state on Wednesday.
“We extend our solidarity with the Federation of All India Medical Association's (FAIMA) call for a nationwide protest by Resident Doctors' Associations (RDAs). We demand justice for the victim through swift apprehension and prosecution of the perpetrators involved in this heinous crime,” the protesting doctors added.
