NDA opting out of the MLC contest for local bodies, YSRCP’s Botsa Satyanarayana is likely to emerge winner
An independent, Sheik Shafiullah, too is in the fray. YSRCP has more than 530 votes out of the total 836 votes.
TDP state president Palla Srinivasa Rao said that the decision to not contest was taken by the party's national president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
He claimed NDA would have easily won if they had fielded a candidate.
Rao alleged that the previous govt had planned to cancel the council when YSRCP had only a few seats.
He said the public did not give YSRCP the mandate even to be called opposition in elections and asked them to act properly in the council.
Meanwhile, home minister Vangalapudi Anita said that despite many YSRCP leaders willing to join NDA, TDP is not contesting as a mark of its commitment to values.
