Encounter erupts in J&K's Reasi, operation in progress

JAMMU: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in J&K’s Reasi district Friday evening. The fire exchange continued intermittently till the time of going to press.
A joint cordon-and-search operation was launched around 1pm in Reasi’s Shikari area under Chassana PS, based on intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists there, Jammu ADGP Anand Jain said.
Contact was established after holed-up terrorists fired at the search party, triggering a gunfight. A few rounds were fired from each side, following which security forces cordoned off the area.
“Reinforcements were rushed to the encounter site,” said a police officer.
