A person from Satara district has been accused of using Aadhaar numbers of 30 individuals to fraudulently apply for benefits under the Ladki Bahin Yojana scheme, directing the funds into a single bank account. The scam was uncovered when a Kharghar resident noticed her application had been approved using someone else's mobile number.

A jeweller in Andheri fell victim to a scam where a conman used false identification to collect gold ornaments worth Rs 3.55 lakh, claiming to have transferred the payment. The jeweller's bank account was later frozen on orders from Gujarat police, as it was used to park fraudulent money. The police are investigating similar cases linked to the same suspect.

Masked Aadhaar and attested photocopies are recommended for added security.

The Head Post Office (HPO) in Melapudur in Trichy will conduct a special Aadhaar enrollment camp on New Year's Day. Real estate agent Rajesh Chugh discovered that his 2-acre plot in Badlapur was 'sold' using his name and details of someone else on the Aadhaar card. The seller's Aadhaar card had the photo and number of a fraudster named Deepak Shankar Shinde, but the name on the document had been changed to 'Rajesh Chugh' with the help of an Aadhaar card centre operator. Chugh filed a complaint and an FIR has been registered against six people, with three already arrested, including the operator and the scamsters who created fake documents.

To increase the polling percentage in the assembly election, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to allow 13 identity cards as an alternative to the election photo identity card (EPIC). These identity cards include Aadhaar Card, MNREGA job card, driving licence, PAN card, Indian passport, pension documents with photo, service identity card with photo, passbook with photo issued by bank/post office, smart card issued by RGI under National Population Register, health insurance smart cards issued under the scheme of the ministry of labour, official identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs, and Unique Disability IDs issued to persons with disabilities by the ministry of social justice. Voters should carry their voting slips with serial numbers.
