MG Motor India has recently secured the trademark for ‘Excelor EV’ in the Indian market, sparking speculations about the manufacturer’s plans for a new electric vehicle (EV) launch on our shores. At present, the company has two electric models in its India portfolio, the ZS EV and the affordable Comet.
The carmaker filed the trademark for the ‘Excelor EV’ nameplate on Dec 26, 2023, and at present, it stands as “Accepted & Advertised.” on the portal.
It is important to note that filing a trademark doesn't guarantee a definite launch, however, it does suggest MG's intent to protect the name for future use.

While there are no details available about the powertrain, segment, dimension, and specifications of this product, it is known that MG will be launching two new products in the Indian market this year, one of which is strongly hinted to be an electric car, potentially the Excelor EV.

Adding to the anticipation, MG is gearing up to unveil its future strategy for the Indian market on March 20th, 2024, in partnership with JSW, a major Indian conglomerate. The latter recently acquired a 35 percent stake holding in the British brand’s Indian subsidiary.
