It has been a little over 36 hours since the trailer release of NTR Jr, Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor’s upcoming film Devara, directed by Kortala Siva, was dropped. And the response to the film has been so overwhelming, that the film has crossed the US $ 1 million mark in the United States of America alone for its premiere shows, where its advance booking had begun in the last week of August.
1x1 polls
The breakeven number for the film in North America is pegged at US $ 5.5 million.
Devara has till now sold over 35000 tickets, amassing over US $ 1.04 million, making it NTR Jr’s biggest solo premiere day number in the country. It would be interesting to see if the film would be able to beat the numbers of his last release SS Rajamouli’s RRR with Ram Charan. The total North America ( USA +Canada) premiere day collection stands at US $ 1.12 million, and with more assets and songs of the film about to release in the coming weeks, one can expect a major jump in the numbers.
In Devara, NTR Jr, plays a dual role ( Father-Son) with Janhvi Kapoor playing the love interest for the younger version, while Saif Ali Khan is playing the nemesis. The film marks the Telugu debut of both Bollywood actors.
The film was supposed to be one project, but a couple of months back, the makers decided to split the film into two parts, with Bobby Deol joining the team in the second part.
