Apple supplier Jabil is set to open an electronics manufacturing plant in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, investing Rs 2,000 crore and potentially creating 5,000 jobs. Rockwell Automation will expand its Kanchipuram facility with a Rs 666 crore investment. These agreements were signed during chief minister MK Stalin’s US visit to attract investments.

CHENNAI: Apple supplier Jabil is set to establish an electronics manufacturing facility at Trichy in central Tamil Nadu with a capital expenditure of Rs 2,000 crore. The project has potential for 5,000 jobs, according to a release by the state govt.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between a delegation of Tamil Nadu, led by chief minister MK Stalin and Jabil vice president (operations) Matt Crowley and other executives at Chicago, US.
The company is a key electronics manufacturing service player and caters to major original equipment manufacturers such as HP and Cisco.
Meanwhile, Rockwell Automation signed an agreement with the state government to expand their electronics manufacturing facility at Kanchipuram district with an investment of Rs 666 crore. Blake Moret, chairman and CEO was present at the event.
The state government also signed MoU with US-based Autodesk to upskill youth, micro, small and medium enterprises and startups, according to the release. These MoUs are signed as part of chief minister MK Stalin’s US trip to secure investments to the state.
